Guildford is getting a new private audiology clinic. The Hearing Services, an independently owned hearing care company, opens at 12 Castle Street, GU1 3UW, on Saturday 10 October, and it is making a day of it: the company says the Mayor of Guildford will attend the opening, with Scottish pipers, members of the public and people from local businesses invited along.

The Guildford clinic joins the group’s Walton-on-Thames branch in the Heart Shopping Centre and its clinics in Kingston upon Thames, Chalfont St Peter and London, including Great Portland Street.

The free screening test

The Hearing Services offers a free hearing screening test, which it values at £50, when the appointment is booked online through its website. A 15-minute telephone consultation is also free. Its tinnitus therapy package is priced at £995 on the company’s site; hearing aid prices depend on the device and are quoted after a test.

Who they are

The Hearing Services Group describes itself as an independently owned company with more than 30 years’ experience in hearing care, staffed by audiologists registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. Being independent matters in this trade: a clinic tied to one manufacturer can only sell that manufacturer’s aids, while an independent can fit whichever device suits the hearing loss, the ear and the budget.
